The English Oak (Quercus robur) is a long lived deciduous tree with a broadly rounded to spreading habit with a short trunk. The leaves are simple and alternately arranged on the twigs. Flowers appear in April or May with both male and female flowers borne on the same tree. The acorns form a valuable food source for several small mammals and some birds but trees may take up to 20 years to produce fruit.
Uses: Excellent specimen tree or can be planted in a grouping in large open landscapes.
Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well drained loamy slightly acidic loamy soils.
