The Coralberry (Symphoricarpos orbiculatus) is a low-growing, spreading deciduous shrub with arching stems that produce bell-shaped, white flowers with a pink tinge appear in summer and then produce clusters of purplish red fruits in the autumn, lasting through into winter. Coralberry typically occurs in open woods, fields, pastures and thickets throughout the State. Spreads by runners to form impenetrable thickets in the wild. No serious insect or disease problems. Plant in open woodland, gardens (remove root suckers/runners to control any unwanted spread of the plant), good for hedging hedging. Can help with erosion control on slopes, shaded areas. Attracts birds.
